Scales

Scales

"Scales (Hemoglobin/Chlorophyll)", 2000
Blown Glass, installation 12" x 96" x 11"

"Scales (Hemoglobin / Chlorophyll)" was titled after the discovery that hemoglobin and chlorophyll have the same chemical composition. This piece studies the relationship between the various movements found in the forms of nature, much as a progression in musical scales.

"Scales" is a collaboration with Ross Richmond, a Seattle-based artist who also works as part of William Morris's "B Team." It was made possible by Public Glass through their Saturday Evening Visiting Artists Program in San Francisco. "Hawk and Bear" (shown below) are preliminary studies made in plaster and hemp for the "Scales" piece.
